Michelle was born in Yeppoon and now leads the Emergency Planning and Response capability across Energy Qld – covering both Ergon Energy and Energex.

Michel Colen

A seasoned manager with experience in economic development, marine operations, heavy industry and manufacturing. Born in Rockhampton, he has lived across the world including the UK, Seychelles, Brisbane and has been based in Gladstone for the last 6 years.

Callum Gawne

Callum started his career in Central Qld as an environmental scientist where he spent his time on mine sites or gas fields. He’s now jumped ship into economic development and has enjoyed the change from looking at trees to talking to people. Callum will bring his critical thinking and analysis skills to the judging this year, and is looking forward to making some tough decisions given the talent in Capricornia.

Kim Harrington

As CQUniversity Associate Vice-Chancellor, Rockhampton Region, Kim Harrington provides leadership across CQUniversity’s 3 campuses in Rockhampton and Yeppoon.
Kim manages her AVC responsibilities alongside her duties as Director of Business Development and Industry Engagement for CQU with a focus on B2B corporate education & training.
Kim had a career with TAFE QLD prior to moving to CQU which spanned 21 years; she held positions of teacher, Head of Faculty, & Director of Studies.
Kim has extensive educational and business development expertise which includes working in and with a variety of different countries, including China, Korea, Mongolia, USA, PNG, Solomon Islands and Indonesia.

Sandra Hobbs

General Manager of the Central Highlands Development Corporation. With a lengthy background working in the areas of business, government, community and youth development predominantly in rural and regional communities South West Qld and the Darling Downs.

Vicki Leeson

Vicki bought her first business when she was 20 and now has over 25 years’ experience as business owner, manager & coach.

Over this time she has started businesses from inception, bought run down businesses to build up to then on sell once they are thriving.

Her experience includes 4.5 years in Cape York, a few years in Emerald and she is now looking forward to working with small business owners across Central Queensland, and being able to pass on her passion for small business.

She is now the CQ Small Business Advisor supporting small business across the region through the Australian Small Business Advisory Services (ASBAS) programme, an Australian Government initiative.

Rudi Tartaglia

Rudi Tartaglia has worked in the areas of marketing and strategic management since 1998, and has worked specifically as a business consultant since 2011.

He has experience across a diverse range of industries such as retail, franchise, e-commerce, financial services, mining, publishing, law, biotech, and health insurance, just to name a few.

Rudi’s company, Tartaglia Marketing, was launched in 2006 to provide a range of services including business planning and strategic marketing. Since this time, Rudi has worked on a variety of projects, including QLD Rail’s ‘RailSmart’ initiative, MasterCard’s Rewards program, and has also provided strategic planning to Biotech companies through the DEEDI “Job Assist” program. Recently, Rudi also consulted on digital marketing & automation to over 120 clients through the Federal Government ‘Digital Enterprise Solutions’ program.

Rudi’s agency mentors businesses in the areas of corporate strategy, marketing & brand strategy, online and offline marketing management, web development, as well as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and database implementation and management.

Rudi is also an author, recently writing a book called The PEND Principle, which is based on a four part strategic marketing process he developed around gaining competitor advantage. Rudi has also been previously asked to comment in the media about marketing trends in Australia.

Rudi holds a range of formal business qualifications including a Master’s Degree in Political Marketing, Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt),Diploma in Business, Diploma in Management, Diploma in Marketing, Advance Diploma in Project Management, Diploma in Finance, and is also a nationally accredited business trainer.
